Just a reminder: a significant portion of Trump’s supporters:
- Support the WWII internment of Japanese Americans, and
- Believe whites are a “superior race”
They oppose:
- The desegregation of the United States military (in 1948) and
- The emancipation of slaves by Lincoln (in 1863).
As we try to understand Trump’s popularity, Occam’s Razor postulates that the simplest explanation is usually correct. Given the above political views of Trump voters, the most logical explanation is the Trump possesses a secret time machine and is importing voters from America’s past.
Here’s an alternative explanation that I find somewhat reasonable.

Hopefully most of the thoughtful conservatives hold their nose in November and vote Clinton or at least stay home, but I understand the idea of understanding a politician as only a villain. Cruz and Santorum are certainly good examples.
